Croatia Part 2 : DubrovnikSunday, October 13, 2013
Following on from my last travel post, where I spent a week in Bol,
Croatia, I am now going to share with you some pictures from Dubrovnik, Croatia.
We travelled from Bol to Split via catamaran, and then got the bus to Dubrovnik where we spent 3 nights just outside the old town. We had a spectacular view of the old town and it was the perfect location to explore. It is recommended that you spend the first day walking around the city walls, so that is exactly what we did. Do bear in mind, if you are afraid of heights this may be one to miss. Although it is not particularly high, some of the walls are very low which can be quite daunting for some people - I actually saw one lady shaking out of fear!
The second day was my favourite, we visited War Photo Ltd. (a photo exhibition about the war) and also took the cable car to the top of Srd hill. I would highly recommend both, the exhibition was incredibly moving and extremely interesting, especially since the war was so recent, and the cable car you had an amazing panoramic view of the old town.
On the last day we got the ferry to Lopad, an island not far from Dubrovnik, to spend a relaxing day at the beach. This was lovely, but compared to what we had already seen, I didn’t think it was anything special. We finished the holiday off by attending a classical music concert in Rector's Palace. I am not one to watch or listen to classical music, however it was a nice experience and a nice end to the holiday. Dubrovnik is a very beautiful city, as you can see, no wonder it is called the pearl in the Adriatic.
